Welcome to MOSH

The main aim of MOSH (Minimisation of Suicide Harm) is to cater for the needs of those at risk of self-harm and suicide and those bereaved through suicide.

On these pages you will find news, events and resources to help with the minimisation of suicide harm. Please feel free to contact us with any suggestions for, or corrections to, this site.

As well as accessing our services, you can support our work in several ways, including:

MOSH Op Shop
Every Monday & Wednesday from 12noon to 5pm
86 George St, Thebarton
(corner of Dew Street, opposite Foodland)

Our Op Shop is open twice a week, but our regular times are supplemented by additional opening hours when volunteers are available. Just look for the signs and flags as you drive past or give us a ring on (08) 8443 8369.

The shop stocks a wide variety of pre-loved and like-new items, including bric-a-brac, toys, books, kitchenware, jewellery, stationery, gifts, small items of furniture, and even some clothing!

The money raised in the Op Shop comes directly to MOSH, as it’s only staffed by volunteers. MOSH also holds regular jumble sales to clear excess stock, so keep an eye on this page and don’t miss out!

SALA Festival 2010 (Exhibition: Above the clouds the Sun always shines)

9-22 August 2010
Pharaoh, 66 North Terrace, Kent Town

MOSH is proud to be invited to the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival for 2010. We are holding an exhibition at Pharaoh in North Terrace for two weeks in August.

We have found many people wish to express themselves creatively in times of stress and the exhibition will celebrate the creative process as a process for healing.

The theme is Above the clouds the Sun always shines. This is not to say that less positive pieces cannot be submitted; however, we encourage positive submissions to show there is a way out of the darkness.

Please see the brochure below for entry and exhibition details:

22 April 2009
Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support Forum a huge success

A Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support Forum was held on Tuesday 21st of April. It was well attended with over guests 100 gaining valuable insight into services available in South Australia for those at risk of suicide and those bereaved by suicide. The evening was hosted by the independent Member for Mitchell, Kris Hanna, and the opening address was from internationally acclaimed local GP, Dr Sheila Clark.

I delivered an address titled "Why Should we Help and How To". Representatives from service providers in the suicide prevention and bereavement support field presented brief introductions to their services; these included Lifeline, Centacare, Salvation Army, Anglicare SA - Living Beyond Suicide Program, Relationships Australia, and Mental Illness Fellowship of South Australia (MIFSA).

An open forum with questions from the floor was followed by an informal opportunity for networking. Throughout the evening various agencies had information available for participants and the Relationships Australia bookshop displayed many resources on grief and related topics.

I would like to acknowledge the generous sponsorship of this event by Blackwell Funerals who provided, not only the venue, but the wonderful catering we all enjoyed. The food was complemented by a lovely selection of local wines from Koppamurra Wines.

All attendees received a unique MOSH bookmark to mark this inaugural event. These were kindly donated by Vivid Blue Design. Die Cutting and Creasing Services donated beautiful coloured folders for all resources taken from the event.

The event was professionally recorded by In Memorium Productions. Copies of the DVD will be available soon from our Sales area. Pre-orders may be placed via sales@moshaustralia.org.au.

Please take the time to visit the sites below and support those who have so generously supported MOSH.
